Doha, Qatar: Nord Anglia International School Al Khor (NAISAK) collaborates with the Ras Laffan Industrial City Community Outreach Programme (RLCOP) and local tech company Gamyra to introduce the groundbreaking educational initiative 'Magic Carpet - Explore Qatar' at their International school in Al Khor.

Sponsored by RLCOP and developed by Gamyra, this project aims to revolutionize children's learning experiences through immersive and interactive technology.

NAISAK is thrilled to host the 'Magic Carpet' initiative, providing primary and secondary students with an extraordinary educational opportunity. Gamyra, led by Qatar Foundation graduates and former Williams F1 simulation engineers, has locally developed the Magic Carpet system at Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) with the support of Qatari engineers and designers. This pioneering initiative offers multi-year virtual reality-based educational experiences for children and teenagers, a first of its kind in Qatar.

Using cutting-edge virtual reality technology, students embark on a virtual journey, soaring above iconic landmarks and exploring Qatar's remarkable journey to becoming a global innovator. The Magic Carpet experience incorporates hydraulic movement and wind simulation to engage students' senses, immersing them in the virtual world and sparking their curiosity about Qatar's cultural treasures.

Sheikha Dana Rashid Al Thani, Head of RLCOP, emphasises the programme's commitment to educational excellence and supporting the development of Qatar's northern communities. She believes that by providing innovative tools and resources, children can become knowledgeable global citizens who thrive in the digital age. Testimonials from children who have experienced Magic Carpet demonstrate its transformative impact.

Fahad A, an 11-year-old student, shares,“I felt like I was flying over our beautiful country, seeing things I've never seen before. It made me proud to be Qatari!”

Devan R, an 8-year-old student, adds,“Magic Carpet takes us on an exciting adventure, teaching us about our history and traditions in a fun and interactive way. It's like being inside a time machine!”

This project exemplifies the potential of partnerships between educational institutions and local tech pioneers. It highlights Qatar's investment in technology and showcases the remarkable educational experiences that can be provided to students. Liz Lamb, Principal of NAISAK, expresses gratitude for the opportunity to nurture the next generation of creative thinkers, problem solvers, and ambassadors of Qatar's rich traditions.

The success of Gamyra and the 'Magic Carpet - Explore Qatar' programme reflects Qatar's commitment to technological innovation and empowering future generations. These initiatives unlock the full potential of local talent, foster educational collaborations, and inspire lifelong learning.
