Tajik Media Praises Amir's Visit

Doha, Qatar: The media in Tajikistan praised the visit of Amir H H sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the capital Dushanbe at the end of a tour of a number of Central Asian countries, stressing the importance of the talks that His Highness held with H E President Emomali Rahmon and their role in promoting cooperation between the two countries.

The media also celebrated the inauguration by His Highness and the President of Tajikistan of the largest mosque in the country, where they quoted Imam Ali Rahman expressing the gratitude of the Tajik people to the State of Qatar for its help in building the Imam Abu Hanifa Al Nu'man bin Thabit Mosque.

Tajikistan's national news agency Khovar said that the meeting and negotiations, which were held in an atmosphere of friendship, understanding and trust between H H the Amir and H E the President of Tajikistan, discussed a number of important issues for bilateral cooperation and prospects for developing and strengthening them, in addition to the relations between the two countries in the political, economic, trade, investment, cultural and humanitarian fields.

The agency added that the meeting reviewed ways to enhance constructive political dialogue, and emphasised the need to expand parliamentary cooperation as a basis for strengthening this process and to establish joint projects in competitive industries for export, especially drinking water, fruits and vegetables.

The two sides also discussed, according to the Tajik agency, ways to develop cooperation in the field of tourism, opening direct flights between the two countries, and the possibility of strengthening cultural and human relations, especially in the fields of science, education, culture, health care and other social sectors. The Tajik agency stated that after high-level meetings and negotiations, 15 agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed between the governments of the two countries.

For its part, Asia-Plus said the mosque has an area of 12 hectares and has a capacity of 133,000 faithful, with 43,000 inside.
