Iran's Car Manufacturing Witnesses Robust Growth, Surging by 48 percent in Early 2023


(MENAFN) Car manufacturing in Iran experienced a significant increase of 48 percent during the first two months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 - May 21) compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. According to the director general of the Iranian Industry Ministry's Auto Industry Office, over 193,000 vehicles were manufactured by Iranian carmakers during this period. The production of passenger cars alone witnessed a substantial rise of 45 percent, reaching nearly 165,000 units.

Moreover, the manufacturing of various types of trucks also demonstrated a notable growth of 58 percent year on year. In the previous Iranian calendar year 1401, car production in Iran witnessed an overall increase of 39 percent, with a total of 1,347,394 vehicles manufactured. Passenger car manufacturing alone accounted for 1,182,078 units, marking a 35-percent rise compared to the previous year.

Vans played a significant role in the overall production, as 125,507 vans were manufactured, experiencing a remarkable growth rate of 56 percent. Additionally, the manufacturing of trucks soared by 150 percent, reaching a total of 34,136 units. The production of buses also witnessed growth, with 1,391 units manufactured, reflecting an 88 percent increase. Similarly, the manufacturing of minibusses and middle buses experienced growth rates of 11 percent and 88 percent, respectively.
