Suicide Blast Kills, Wounds 8 People In SW Pakistan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD, May 19 (KUNA) -- At least one person was killed and seven others received injuries when a suicide bomber targeted the vehicle of chief of religious Political party Jamat e Islami (JI), Siraj ul Haq, during a political event in Pakistanآ's southwestern Balochistan province on Friday.
The JI party spokesperson Faisal Sharif in a statement to media after the attack said, "The suicide attacker blew himself up near the vehicle of Sirajul Haq, but he remained unhurt in the attack."
The party said that Haq was on his way to address a public gathering when he was targeted in a "suicide attack."
The suicide blast took place during a political event in Balochistan's Zhob district on` Friday when Siraj ul Haq was entering Zhob and people were welcoming him. The blast injured seven workers of the party where the condition of four people was reported critical.
Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo strongly condemned the blast and said that he will not allow the terrorist elements and their patrons to succeed in their nefarious ambitions. He expressed satisfaction over the safety of Jamaat-e-Islami chief in the terrorist incident. (end)
