Virgin Islands Subpoenas Alphabet in Epstein lawsuit against JPMorgan
(MENAFN) The Virgin Islands has taken legal action to serve a subpoena to Alphabet, the parent company of Google, regarding a lawsuit against JPMorgan for allegedly enabling Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking ring. However, investigators have been unable to locate Google co-founder Larry Page, who is described as a "high-net worth individual who Epstein may have referred or attempted to refer to JPMorgan." government investigators have requested permission from Judge Jed Rakoff to serve Alphabet instead, as the factual discovery period for the case is nearing its end, and Page is unlikely to be found before the end of the month. Despite efforts to locate Page, including hiring an investigative firm to search public records databases, the government has been unable to serve the billionaire, as the addresses found were not valid.
It is worth noting that Page reportedly owns two of the Virgin Islands, named Hans Lollik and Little Hans Lollik. These are just two of the four private islands that the software tycoon has purchased since cashing in on Google. On the other hand, Epstein's own private island, Little Saint James, which he bought in 1998, was recently sold to investment manager Stephen Deckoff for USD60 million.
This latest development adds another twist to the ongoing legal battle involving JPMorgan and Epstein's sex trafficking ring. The case has already seen the bank accused of enabling Epstein's criminal activities, including transferring millions of dollars on his behalf. The bank has denied any wrongdoing, but the case continues to generate controversy and scrutiny. With investigators unable to locate Page, the government's attempt to serve Alphabet could have significant implications for the case's outcome, as the factual discovery period draws to a close. It remains to be seen how the case will unfold and what impact these latest developments will have on the ongoing legal battle.
