KSA Invites Airlines to Apply for Carrier Licenses to Operate from King Fahd International Airport in Dammam
(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia's Aviation industry is set to receive a further boost as airlines are being invited to apply for carrier licenses to operate from King Fahd International Airport (KFIA) in Dammam. The licenses will be issued for both domestic and international flights from the airport, in line with the Kingdom's goal of elevating its competitiveness in the aviation market and improving the quality of services provided to travelers. Interested companies can apply for licenses by submitting official letters to the General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA).
The winning firms will have the option to choose domestic routes from KFIA to other airports in the Kingdom, and they will also be able to operate global flights in accordance with international agreements concluded by GACA. The move is in line with the aviation sector's aim of serving 330 million passengers and covering over 250 international destinations by 2030.
KFIA has received international recognition for its excellence in the aviation industry. In March, it was named the best regional airport in the Middle East for the second year in a row by the international air transport organization, Skytrax. The organization released the rankings for the world's top 100 airports in 2023.
As Saudi Arabia continues to invest in its aviation industry, the move to issue carrier licenses to airlines is expected to increase competition and further improve the quality of services provided to travelers. The Kingdom has been working towards establishing itself as a major player in the global aviation market, and the latest move is a step in the right direction. The issuance of carrier licenses will not only provide more options for travelers but also create new job opportunities in the aviation industry, further boosting the country's economy.
