Turkey’s daily electricity usage increases by 4.2 percent on March 29


(MENAFN) According to official data released by the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS), Turkey's daily electricity consumption saw a 4.2 percent increase on Wednesday compared to the previous day, totaling 891,801 megawatts per hours. The data also showed that the country's hourly power consumption peaked at 42,694 megawatts per hours at noon local time, while it dropped to 30,554 megawatts per hours at 7 a.m. regional time, marking the lowest level of consumption during the day.

In terms of electricity production, Turkey generated 877,498 megawatts per hours on Wednesday, which represented a 4.2 percent increase compared to the production levels recorded on Tuesday. Among the different types of power plants used in the country, imported coal contributed to 18.6 percent of total generation, while natural gas and hydroelectricity power plants contributed 16.5 percent and 14.5 percent, correspondingly.

Moreover, data from TEIAS also indicated that Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 4,199 megawatts per hours on Wednesday, while the country imported 18,326 megawatts per hours of electricity during the same period. These figures highlight the importance of energy trading in Turkey's electricity market, which is highly influenced by factors such as weather conditions, seasonal variations, and geopolitical developments.

Overall, the latest figures from TEIAS demonstrate the country's continued reliance on a diverse range of energy sources to meet its growing electricity demand, as well as its efforts to maintain a balance between domestic production and imports to ensure energy security and stability in the face of various challenges.
