Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), recently hosted its cycle 13 flagship program XLR8 Demo Day, where top innovators and startups demonstrated their excellent solution providers to the modern world.

The event witnessed the innovators showcasing their later technologies to judges and all attendees enabling them to explore more opportunities with the startup firms.

Eight representatives from the respective companies presented their innovative ideas and provided plausible solutions for the community. These include 'Darbi', a one-stop shop providing high school students with informed decisions about next steps, 'Samples Yard', a digital sampling platform that connects architects and interior designers with architectural material manufacturers on a single platform, 'Blend-Stocks', an innovative software solution which helps crude oil refineries automate large scale blend scheduling, maximise resource utilisation and minimise costs, 'Roomy', an application enabling individuals to choose roommates based on their unique preferences including religion and gender, 'Resp O2', a clean breathing solution offering powered air purification especially for Asthma patients, 'Saha', a platform to keep track of people's medical records, Cloud Receipt, another platform to save all receipts on their device not having to carry any printed receipts and 'Pulsate', for those affected with hypertension.

The event commenced with an opening remark by QSTP Program Manager, Acceleration Mohammed Zebian. Blend-Stocks, Samples Yard, and Darbi were declared as the top 3 winners at the event.

Commenting on the event and the winners, Zebian said:“It's always exciting to see the passion and creativity of our XLR8 participants, who are keen to showcase their innovative ideas.'

'We congratulate the winners of this cycle and value their contribution to Qatar's innovation landscape as they advance from the development stage towards entering the local market,' he added.

QSTP has been an active QF member empowering and supporting tech-based entrepreneurship ventures through incubation, funding, training, and mentorship across the country.

Bagging the first place, Mahmoud Abdulrasheed Ahmednooh, Production Planning Engineer at Qatar Energy refinery, and founder of Blend-Stocks said:“My team and I realised that there aren't many software options in the market to help with the gasoline production process, which leads to inefficiencies and therefore unnecessary financial loss. So, we decided to create a solution that can help automate the blending process, optimize gasoline production, reduce inefficiency, and save costs.'

Co-founder of Samples Yard and architect, Alaa Al Khatib, who came in second position, said:“Honestly, the XLR8 program was a fantastic experience that helped put our project on the right path. Connecting architects and interior designers with construction material manufacturers will simplify and speed up the arduous and time-consuming process of sourcing material samples.”

Sara El Amin, a teacher at QF's Academyati school and founder of Darbi, winning the third place said:“High school students should be able to make informed decisions and take charge of their own future. And they can do that by using our online platform which is a one-stop-shop to help them find their passion, and explore and apply to universities.”
