Turkey welcomes Kosovo-Serbia ties agreement, pledges support

(MENAFN) The Turkish government issued a statement on Sunday expressing its contentment with the recent agreement between Kosovo and Serbia to work towards normalizing their relations. This agreement was reached with the assistance of the European Union and includes a roadmap for achieving this goal. The leaders of Kosovo and Serbia further reached an agreement on March 18, 2023, in Ohrid, which outlines the implementation annex of the agreement.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed its hope that both parties will fully observe and comply with the provisions of the agreement and work towards achieving concrete results in the near future. This statement demonstrates Turkey's commitment to promoting regional stability and fostering peaceful relations in the Balkans.

The Turkish government has played a significant role in this process, particularly in addressing the issue of electricity distribution. President Erdogan has held separate meetings with both Serbian President Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Kurti, highlighting Turkey's continued support for all initiatives aimed at normalizing relations between Kosovo and Serbia. This reaffirms Turkey's dedication to contributing to the peace-building efforts in the region.
