(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The International Criminal Court will plead for extra money to investigate Russian war crimes in Ukraine. That's according to the guardian , Ukrinform reports.
Karim Khan, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, will make such a request on Monday at a conference in London co-hosted by the UK and the Dutch government aimed at raising cash to fund the ICC's war crimes investigatory work inside Ukraine.
The ICC's budget has not been increased even though it has 40 investigators working inside Ukraine.
More than 40 nations are attending the conference hosted by the UK deputy prime minister, Dominic Raab, and the Netherlands' minister for justice and security, Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius. The UK is providing an extra GBP 395,000 to fund the ICC's work.
Denys Maliuska, Ukraine's justice minister and Andriy Kostin, Ukraine's prosecutor general, will attend.
On March 17, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian children's rights commissioner, Maria Lvova-Belova. They are suspected of war crimes – the illegal deportation and relocation of the population, including children, from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
