Cairo /PNN/The Arab Republic of Egypt is hosting a five-party meeting today to promote dialogue between the Palestinian and Israeli sides and to stop all unilateral measures and the escalation to pave the way for an atmosphere that contributes to the resumption of the peace process.
Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein Al-Sheikh, announced on Saturday morning that the Palestinian Authority will participate in a meeting to be held on Sunday in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
The conference will primarily discuss efforts to bring calm before the month of Ramadan, according to Al-Sheikh.
In a tweet, Al-Sheikh said that the Sharm El-Sheikh meeting would be attended by regional and international actors to defend the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom and independence, and to demand an end to the ongoing Israeli aggression against our people and the cessation of all policies and measures that violate their lives, land, property, and sanctities.
Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, a spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, said that the five-way meeting will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, with the participation of high-profile political and security officials from Egypt, Palestine, Israel, Jordan and the United States, within the framework of regional and international efforts aimed at achieving calm in the Palestinian and Israeli arenas.
The Sharm el-Sheikh meeting builds upon the discussions and the understandings reached in the five-part meeting on February 26 in Aqaba, Jordan, Abu Zeid added in a press statement.
He explained that regional and international actors are participating in the meeting in order to develop mechanisms for follow-up and implementation of the results of those meetings.
