Russian-backed forces strike Dnipropetrovsk region with heavy artillery

(MENAFN) The Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine has once again come under heavy attack from Russian-backed forces. According to Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, enemy forces fired heavy artillery at four communities in the region, including Nikopol, Marhanets, Myrove, and Chervonohryhorivka. The attacks resulted in damage to several industrial enterprises, road surfaces, power lines, and buildings.

Lysak reported that the Nikopol district was hit eight times, causing damage to a transport company and three industrial enterprises, as well as road surfaces and power lines. Meanwhile, in the Myrove community, an agricultural company and a store were damaged, and several houses, farm buildings, a car, and a scooter were also affected. An electricity grid and a gas pipeline were also damaged.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. However, the attacks represent yet another violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity by Russian-backed forces. The attacks were carried out from the occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region, specifically from the territory of the ZNPP industrial site.

The use of heavy artillery against civilian targets is a flagrant violation of international law, and the Ukrainian government has called on the international community to condemn these attacks and hold those responsible accountable for their actions. The ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine has already claimed the lives of thousands of people and displaced many more, and the continued aggression by Russian-backed forces only serves to prolong the suffering of the Ukrainian people.

The Ukrainian military continues to defend the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty against Russian-backed forces, but they are in need of further support from the international community. The attacks on the Dnipropetrovsk region serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine, and for Russia to respect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
