Iran's intelligence minister disputes "Fake News" about recent military exercise

(MENAFN) The Iranian Intelligence Minister, Ismail Khatib, has spoken out against what he calls "fake news" concerning a recent military exercise carried out by the Islamic revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Basij Force in Karaj, near Tehran. Social media footage of anti-aircraft fire in the skies over Karaj led to reports of an explosion and gunfire, with some media outlets speculating that an Israeli airstrike may have been responsible. However, Khatib dismissed these rumors, saying that such false reports and news fabrication "will be short-lived." He suggested that the enemy was trying to use the events to gain a reputation for themselves but emphasized that the explosions and gunfire were the result of military drills.

The intelligence minister also warned of efforts to overthrow the Islamic establishment by inciting riots and disturbances. When such efforts failed, he stated, the enemy moved on to media propaganda and sabotage operations.

Khatib stressed that Iran's security was dependent on its people and that a security system based on people could survive for a long time. He also indicated that members of sabotage teams were identified and detained during the recent unrest. Despite attempts by the media to irritate public opinion, the minister declared that the enemy had always lost.
