Police arrest two suspects in connection with gas station shooting that injured 9 children


(MENAFN) In the aftermath of a shooting at a gas station in Columbus, Georgia on February 17th, two people have been arrested in connection with the incident. Among those arrested was a 15-year-old individual who has been identified as a "validated gang member" and has been taken to a youth detention center on one count of aggravated assault. The other suspect, 35-year-old D'Angelo Robinson Sr., has been booked into the Muscogee County Jail on eight counts of aggravated assault.

Nine children were injured in the shooting, including seven teenagers and two younger children, all of whom suffered gunshot wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening. Police Chief Freddie Blackmon has stated that an altercation which occurred at a nearby party may have led to the shooting at the gas station, but did not provide further details. The incident remains under investigation.

Notably, the youngest victim of the shooting was a 5-year-old child who was not present at the party but happened to be in the vicinity of the gas station with a family member. Columbus, where the shooting occurred, is located roughly 110 miles southwest of Atlanta and 85 miles east of Montgomery, Alabama.
