Young Suspect in custody for Temple University police officer's fatal shooting

(MENAFN) On Sunday, an 18-year-old man was arrested for the fatal shooting of a police officer from Temple University in north Philadelphia. Miles Pfeffer, who hails from Buckingham Township, Pennsylvania, is facing several charges, including murder, robbery, carjacking, and murder of a law enforcement officer in connection to the shooting that occurred on Saturday night. The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office confirmed these charges.

According to reports, Officer Christopher Fitzgerald was conducting an "incident investigation" near Temple's campus when he came across Pfeffer. It was at this point that Pfeffer allegedly shot Fitzgerald in the head, killing him. Furthermore, Pfeffer reportedly tried to rob the officer of his gun and went through his pockets while Fitzgerald lay wounded on the ground.

After the murder, Pfeffer allegedly carjacked a vehicle close to the location of the shooting. Authorities have confirmed that he was taken into custody on Sunday morning by the U.S. Marshals, in coordination with local law enforcement, in Bucks County. Shortly after the arrest, Pfeffer was transferred to Philadelphia for further processing.
