PIF today announced an investment in four of the top local construction firms: Nesma & Partners Contracting Company, ElSeif Engineering Contracting Company, AlBawani Holding Company, and Almabani General Contractors Company, totaling USD 1.3 billion through the subscription of new shares as part of the capital increases representing significant minority stakes. As part of strengthening the Saudi Arabian construction ecosystem, the investment will assist in enabling the country's construction services industry and enhancing local supply chains for ongoing and upcoming projects.
The four businesses in which PIF has invested have established a good track record for carrying out and managing difficult, extensive projects across several industries in several Saudi Arabian provinces. The relationships between the enterprises and PIF will aid in the regional and global expansion of their operations and businesses.
The investments will improve supply chains, boost Saudi Arabia's GDP, raise private sector local content, and boost the competitiveness of the building services industry.
By scaling up capacity, enhancing capabilities, and generating investment opportunities for the local private sector in ongoing and upcoming projects, PIF's funding also intends to unlock the industry's strengths. The four businesses will be able to form regional and international relationships by utilizing PIF's global network, which will facilitate the adoption of cutting-edge technology and the knowledge transfer from international EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) firms.
Yazeed A. Al-Humied, Deputy Governor and Head of MENA Investments at PIF, said:“These partnerships demonstrate PIF's commitment to unlocking the capabilities of key strategic sectors in Saudi Arabia, including the Construction & Building Components and Services sector, which has been identified as one of 13 strategic sectors locally.
