Russian spy service: US grooming militants to invade Russia

(MENAFN) The US military is training jihadist extremists to strike targets in Russia and the former Soviet Union, the Russian foreign intelligence service claimed on Monday.

The Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia, run by a Putin loyalist, claimed to have knowledge of the recruitment and training of 60 such fighters from organizations linked to Daesh and Al-Qaeda at an American facility in Syria.

According to the Foreign Intelligence Service, also known by its initials SVR, "they will be tasked with planning and carrying out terrorist operations against diplomats, civil officials, law enforcement officers, and troops of the military forces."

The SVR stated in a statement that "Special Attention is Paid to Attracting Immigrants from the Russian North Caucasus and Central Asia."

Relations between the United States and Russia have never been worse than they are now as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Putin portrays the United States as an empire that has consistently refused to consider Russian interests. Putin is portrayed by Vice President Joe Biden as an authoritarian who poses a serious threat to the US.
