The decision was taken in the meeting of the federal cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shebbaz Sharif early today. Upon expressing his deepest condolence over the thousands of quake-caused deaths in Turkiye and Syria, the prime minister appealed to the people of Pakistan to sympathize with the people of Turkiye and donate generously.

While addressing the cabinet members, the prime minister said that Turkiye had been at the forefront to support the people of Pakistan after unprecedented floods hit the country in 2022.“Now is the time to reach out to the people of Turkiye and fulfill our Islamic and brotherly responsibilities,” he said.

The prime minister will travel to Turkiye and visit the quake-ravaged sites. He assured that the people of Pakistan would extend every possible support to the people of Turkiye and Syria during these difficult times. In the meantime, Pakistan has already dispatched rescue teams to support relief activities in the quake-hit cities.

Following the devastating earthquakes that seriously affected the two neighboring countries, Turkiye called on the international community for help. Governments and the international community have responded with offers after an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 jolted central Turkiye and northwest Syria.

The US, China, India, Pakistan, Japan, Britain, United Arab Emirates are among the countries that have already sent rescue teams, specialists, and supplies to Turkiye and Syria so far.

Turkish authorities have appreciated the international community's efforts and are extending their helping hands to the people of Turkiye during these difficult times.
