Iran assures that 5,000 idle mines across nation not active yet


(MENAFN) Deputy Industry, Mining and Trade Minister Reza Mohtashami-Pour stated that there are 12,000 mines through the nation of which 5,000 are presently not operating, as reported by IRNA.

As said by the official, the administration has raised 230 trillion rials (around USD603.7 million) for the improvement of state-owned mines via the nation in the present Iranian calendar year (closes on March 20).

Mohtashami-Pour pointed out that additional mineral zones have also been recognized in numerous districts which are estimated to improve the nation’s mineral reserves.

He also asserted that many knowledge-based firms are presently operating in the mining industry operating on numerous ventures such as exploratory drones as well as survey cameras.

The deputy minister mentioned that up to 80 percent of the equipment and machinery utilized in the processing of minerals are presently produced inside the nation.

The Industry, Mining, and Trade Ministry’s plan for reviving small mines was started at the end of March 2019.
