Dow Jones ends with earnings while S&P, Nasdaq close with decreases


(MENAFN) The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended with increases on Tuesday’s session, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq, on the other hand, closed the session in the negative.

The blue-chip Dow saw a surge of 104.40 points, or 0.31 percent, to finish the session standing at 33,733.96.

The S&P 500 decreased by nearly 3 points, or 0.07 percent to finish at 4,016.95 as well as the Nasdaq lost 30.14 points, or 0.27 percent, to reach 11,334.27.

All three indexes jumped on Monday to end at their peakiest rate in one month.

The VIX volatility index, also recognized as the fear index, dropped 3.4 percent to reach 19.14, whereas the 10-year US Treasury yield lost 1.9 percent to stand at 3.456 percent.

The dollar index declined by 0.2 percent to reach 101.95, whereas the euro jumped 0.13 percent to stand at USD1.0882 in contrast with the dollar.

Precious metals regained and jumped into the positive territory, with gold surging 0.3 percent to USD1,937 an ounce and silver gaining 0.9 percent to reach USD23.66.
