According to specialist, safe passwords decrease danger of online fraud

(MENAFN) online fraud can be stopped by safe passwords, which is the essential element of cyber hygiene, as said by a Turkish specialist.

Cyber hygiene, or cybersecurity hygiene, is a set of practices that institutes and people perform regularly to keep the security of users, devices, networks, and data.

“The security of passwords is very important in preventing the stealing of data. The most important element of cyber hygiene is password security,” Selman Tunay Kamer, a professor at Türkiye's Kastamonu University, informed Anadolu.

Kamer suggested using 12-digit passwords that include upper and lower case letters, in addition to changing them periodically.

Stressing the significance of protecting personal data, use of credit cards through social media, and the danger of phishing accounts, he added: “We need to be careful while leaving a digital footprint, reading, or clicking messages from social media.”

“If we pay attention to cyber hygiene when using digital devices, we will reduce problems of fraud and network security to almost zero,” he also noted, and cautioned users against free VPN (virtual private network) applications.
