German police detain Iranian man due to doubts on planning chemical invasion

(MENAFN) German Police detained an Iranian resident on suspicion of planning a chemical terror invasion, according to experts on Sunday.

The 32-year-old man was detained in the western city of Castrop-Rauxel following special police forces captured his home.

“The accused is suspected of having prepared a serious act of violence,” Dusseldorf Prosecutor's Office announced in a press release, saying that he is believed to have gotten toxic chemicals like ricin and cyanide to start a religiously-motivated invasion.

Police officers and specialists wearing protective clothes searched the home of the suspect for proof.

“The search serves to find corresponding toxins and other evidence. The accused and one other person have been taken into custody, evidence has been secured and is being evaluated,” the Prosecutor's Office made an announcement.

As reported by the public broadcaster ARD, the police have taken electronic devices and memory cards, but no toxic chemicals were detected at the suspect’s house.
