(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW, Dec 27 (KUNA) -- The West's approach aiming to deter Russia has risks of an armed conflict amongst nuclear states, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned on Tuesday.
The West alleged that Russia is planning to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine, Russia's news agency (TASS) quoted Lavrov as saying, warning against the eruption of a nuclear war.
He charged Washington with practically threatening the life of Russian President Vladimir Putin, referring to the remarks made by US officials of the necessity of directing a fatal blow to the top of the pyramid in the Kremlin.
He warned against the repercussions of such a plot, pointing to an impossible contact with US President Joe Biden's Administration, which eyes defeating Russia strategically.
Lavrov held Washington accountable for freezing relations between the two countries, accusing the US and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) of planning to defeat Russia. Washington does its best to prolong the conflict in Ukraine and tries to join Kiev to the NATO by force, he suggested. (end)
