Kremlin: Russia is formulating reaction to oil price ceiling

(MENAFN) The Russian government is drafting an official reaction after the United States, the European Union, and many other nations imposed a $60 price restriction on Russia's oil exports. Moscow would not accept any such price cap, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

“The decision [on retaliatory measures] is still being prepared, but, of course, one thing is obvious here. We will not recognize any price caps,” Peskov informed journalists amid a press briefing on Monday.

He also admitted that international fuel rates will see a drastic change in light of the latest steps. “One thing is obvious and indisputable: the adoption of these decisions is a step towards destabilizing the world energy markets,” the representative highlighted.

Peskov's remarks come after the EU, G7 nations, and Australia decided last week to impose a $60 per barrel price restriction on all Russian oil purchases, which took effect on December 5. Any transactions that exceed this price limit will no longer be eligible for brokerage, shipping, insurance, or other services.
