Jordan to participate in Web Summit 2022


(MENAFN- Asdaa BCW) Lisbon, Portugal – October 30, 2022 — The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship is proud to announce its participation in one of the largest tech events in the world, Web Summit 2022, in Lisbon, Portugal. For the first time ever, the Kingdom will host its own booth at the event, represented by Jordan Source, a program created in line with the vision of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II, and implemented by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship. The aim of Jordan Source is to promote the Kingdom as an ideal destination for investments in the ICT sector, in addition to facilitating this investment journey, by providing wide-reaching support and numerous incentives, applicable to the ICT sector in general and to IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing (ITO/BPO) in particular.

This year, the high-profile event will take place from November 1 to 4, and it is anticipated to welcome more than 70,000 tech professionals from across the globe, including a large number of investors and over 250 media outlets that will cover the most prominent events, sessions, and various activities. The conference will also include an array of esteemed international speakers, including Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, who will act as this year’s keynote speaker. Her Majesty will host a fireside chat entitled, Battling Built-in Biases, which will address how built-in biases contribute to discrimination and inequality, and how the need is urgent to prioritize compassion. She will also reflect on the growing global refugee crisis, and how tech can help bring dignity to people’s lives.

The Jordanian delegation is being led by His Excellency Ahmed Hanandeh, Jordan’s Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, and includes a designated team from the ministry, more than half a dozen Jordanian startups, and six IT outsourcing (ITO) and business process outsourcing (BPO) companies. During the event’s various activities and discussions, His Excellency Marwan Juma, Vice President of the National Council for Entrepreneurship, and several of the most noticeable leaders and influencers from the Jordanian entrepreneurial scene will showcase inspiring success stories. Other speakers will highlight how Jordan’s leadership as an ITO and BPO hub has added value to their businesses and operations. Young Jordanian talents will also be highlighted, as well as the Kingdom’s competitive advantage, governmental support, and the incredible development of the country’s entrepreneurship framework.
Through its dedicated booth at Web Summit, the ministry’s delegation and Jordan Source will be engaging visitors and potential investors in a variety of activities—all of which are designed to elevate the country’s profile as an ICT business and investment destination, underscoring Jordan’s incredible wealth of talent, supportive business environment, world-class ICT infrastructure, and exceptional warmth and hospitality.

The participation of local tech startups in events like Web Summit 2022 is one of the primary goals of the Youth, Technology, and Jobs (YTJ) project, which works to supports the growth of digitally innovative companies in the Kingdom. This includes companies that provide IT and business process outsourcing services, and digital entrepreneurs to expand into new markets both on a regional and global level. This year, the following Jordanian startups are participating in Web Summit: Bith.TV, Shop4me, Repzo, Palmear, CertaCure, Sager Drones, and Xina Ai. Meanwhile, the following ITO and BPO companies are also taking part in the event: NexTwo, Webhelp, Crystal Call, Aspire, CS MENA, and GNTeq.

Visitors to Web Summit 2022 are invited to visit the Jordan Source booth and take part in a variety of interactive activities and experiences.
