Doha: IGCSE students at Nord Anglia International School Al Khor (NAISAK) have helped create a stunning wall mural of the Al Bayt Stadium on the side of their school, as part of the Zeeenah initiative, a national art programme led by The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar.
The initiative created an opportunity for everyone to celebrate Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 by decorating their facilities to reflect the event. The design of the wall at NAISAK was inspired by the school's location not far from Al Bayt Stadium, a venue of the World Cup.
To help bring the wall to life in a beautiful and dramatic way, the school sought the help of prominent Qatari calligraphy artist, Fatima Al Sharshani of Qaif Calligraphy. Ahead of applying her 'calligraffiti' skills to the wall, Fatima kindly gave her time to speak with the students as part of the NAISAK 'Guest Speaker' series, where she explained her route to becoming an artist. She gently encouraged the students to 'look up' and use their free time to explore their passions and bring them to life.
As part of a global community of over 70,000 Nord Anglia students from all corners of the world, NAISAK students rarely miss an opportunity to celebrate the fact that they are all history in the making, and the Zeeenah initiative for the FIFA 2022 World Cup celebrations, provided just such an opportunity.
The words on the wall 'This is where history will be made', written in both English calligraphy, designed by the students and Arabic calligraphy by Fatima, serve as a stunning and poignant reminder to all who visit the wall of the power of their potential.
The school invites all visitors to Al Khor during the period of the World Cup, to come and sit in the stadium seat attached to their 'Zeeenah wall' and join them to be part of history in the making.
