Qatar Attends Meeting Of GCC Justice Ministers

Riyadh: The State of Qatar participated yesterday in the 32nd meeting of Their Excellencies the Ministers of Justice of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), which was held at the headquarters of the GCC Secretariat General in Riyadh.

The delegation of the State of Qatar at the meeting was headed by Minister of Justice, H E Masoud bin Mohammed Al Amri. 

In a speech during the meeting, the Minister of Justice stressed the importance of the meeting to enhance partnership and integration between the GCC ministries of justice in the legal and judicial fields, activate the relevant agreements, discuss the unification of legislation, and extract the legislative principles contained in the guiding systems to keep pace with the rapid developments taking place in the societies of the region in all fields.

The GCC justice ministers welcomed Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as the first global tournament to be organized in the Arab world and the Middle East, stressing that it will be a tournament for all Arabs.

The meeting dealt with several draft laws and guiding regulations, in addition to discussing several agreements, including the agreement on the extradition of accused and convicted persons between GCC states, the agreement on execution of judgments, rogatory and judicial notices, the draft of unified anti-discrimination and hate law, and reports of the committees concerned with cooperation projects between the GCC ministries of justice.
