Egyptian gecko has invaded Israel

(MENAFN) The Israel Nature and Parks Authority (NPA) stated on Tuesday that the Egyptian gecko (Tarentola annularis) is infiltrating south Israel, particularly the Wadi Araba region, threatening the ecology.

NBA is seeking assistance from Wadi Araba inhabitants in locating Egyptian geckos and lizards, which have begun to spread over the region and multiply at an alarming rate while eating agricultural products.

Shai Meri, a science professor at Tel Aviv University, has cautioned that geckos have the capacity to devastate any ecology.

Egyptian lizards were seen eating little birds, Meri added, adding that they are an extremely aggressive species that bites hard and reproduces quickly.

Miri's analysis proved that the Tarentola annularis had wiped out all local geckos and had become a menace to the ecosystem.
