Sports Tournaments, Art Exhibitions, Date Festival And More This Month

The country has a lot planned for this month of August, including e-Sports competitions, a dates festival, equestrian events, art exhibitions, and summer camps, Qatar Tourism revealed on its official website.

AAMeghessib's Back-2-Back, a unique eSport platform for FIFA 22 on PlayStation 5 in Qatar started its tournament on Friday and will run until August 26. It was named after Qatari footballer Ahmed Al Meghessib, one of the region's top FIFA players. 

The format is to create a two-player team and compete in offline qualifiers leading to the national final. The sportive angle is that teams need to score two consecutive goals to win in 11v11 Kick Off Mode. Its final tournament is set at Doha Festival City on August 26. First place winner will win QR45,000; second place, QR30,000 and third place, QR15,000. Prizes are provided by Qatar Tourism in redeemable vouchers from Virgin Megastores.

QNB Stars League, the main tournament managed by the Qatar Stars League will run until September. 

The league is held every season with the participation of 12 clubs, which compete over 22 weeks for the championship.

Al Shaqab's Summer Equestrian Programme is ongoing until the following week, August 11. It said the programme is aimed to educate and promote horsemanship as part of Qatar's equestrian heritage in line with the overall vision of Al Shaqab to be the leading equine centre of excellence. 

Children Summer Pony Ride, for age group three to seven years old; Al Shaqab's 2022 Adult Summer Activity, for ages six to 18 group, and 18 years and above; Adult Private Summer Activity; and Summer Academic Riders Camp are still being offered for this month. 

Moreover, it also offers Summer Ladies Classes for ages 14 and above; Riding Academy Programme for children six to 18 years old; Adult Group Classes, 18 years and above; Adult Private Classes; and Children Summer Autism Programme, three to 12 years old. Kids can choose several Summer Camps happening all around the country: Summer Camp at KidZania Doha; Creative Space Summer Camp offering programmes on Web Design, Exploring Robotics with Wedo, 3D Modeling and Printing, Machine Learning in Scratch, Film Making, and Exploring Micro:bit. 

Evolutions Sports Qatar Summer Camp will run until August 11; National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) meanwhile is conducting a Child Mental Health Summer Camp until August 14; and PSG Summer Programme will conclude on August 18.


“Abeer Al-Tamimi: Beyond the Rules” currently on display at Fire Station

Art, fashion and car enthusiasts may visit various exhibitions happening at NMoQ, M7 in Msheireb and The Fire Station.“Pipilotti Rist: Your Brain to Me, My Brain to You” is a new large-scale, site-specific installation, wherein visitors embark on a journey of self-discovery through a multisensory experience that inspires introspection and awe. 

“A Sneak Peek at Qatar Auto Museum” features three spectacular cars within the Mawater Gallery. Both exhibitions are at NMoQ.

“Doha Dreams” inspired by the Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition can be viewed at M7 until the last day of the month. 

Art workshop for children“Paint Palette: Abstract Art for Children” is ongoing until November for ages three to five and five to seven years. Paint Palette will encourage young children to explore colour, learn art vocabulary and identify shapes while producing vibrant, abstract works on canvas.

The Fire Station currently hosts two exhibitions:“Abeer Al-Tamimi: Beyond the Rules” at Gallery 3,“Abstraction: Subverting Reality,” at Gallery 4. 

And, the 7th Local Dates Festival at Souq Waqif's Al Ahmad Square will continue through August 10. It opens daily from 3pm to 9pm, except for Friday where it opens at 1pm to 10pm. The festival will include many types of local dates from over 80 farms.
