Four people have reportedly been placed under arrest by Taliban forces in Herat province in western Afghanistan on charges of burning a man alive, according to local Taliban officials.

In a newsletter released by the Taliban government's Herat Police Office today, Thursday, August 4, it was said that these individuals were arrested in the district of Guzara in this province.

The Herat law enforcement says that one of Herat's natives was burnt to death by these four individuals in Herat, who are now in police custody.

According to Taliban local officials, the offenders who were apprehended have admitted their guilt, and confessed to the respective authorities.

Although the reason for the crime committed by these four people has not yet been ascertained, Taliban officials said an investigation into the case was still ongoing.

Under the Taliban rule in Afghanistan, reports of domestic violence, honor killings, personal enmity, family blood feuds, and suicides have significantly increased recently.

Four masked intruders brutally murdered a young veterinarian on Tuesday in the central Afghan district of Ghor.

According to the veterinarian's close family, four unidentified people killed him with a blade when he went to his land to irrigate his fields at night.

In spite of the Taliban's claims that they provide security, mystery killings and other crimes continue to happen and have recently started to occur more frequently in a number of provinces.
