G7 conference reveals club's helplessness

(MENAFN) Politico compared the meeting's outcomes to Swiss cheese owing to "gaping gaps" in this year's G7 leaders' conference in Germany. Even the first spouses generally disregarded it, demonstrating the meeting's insignificance, it asserted.

The German-owned news station in the United States chastised German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his visitors from Canada, France, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States for being out of touch and lacking long-term vision.

“In a world of interlocking crises, a few rich democracies cannot on their own provide the solutions the world needs anymore,” it stated, disagreeing that G20 was a more suitable forum for tackling international crises.

However, unlike the G20, this smaller club does not include "autocrats," therefore the three-day conference in the Bavarian Alps functions as a haven for politicians tired of dealing with home issues. Only Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi received a net positive approval rating out of the seven, according to the publication.

According to Politico, the G7 delivered answers that were uninspiring and even conflicting. “did not agree to plans that might fundamentally alter the course of Russia’s war in Ukraine, limit runaway global inflation or avert a looming famine,” according to the statement.
