Doha: Three Qatari poets — Radhi Al Hajri, Ahmad Al Muftah, Abdulrahman Al Dolaim, and oudist Ali Nakuzi — took to the D'reesha Stage to perform Arabic poetry and music at the Arabic Poetry Night.

The D'reesha Stage, part of Qatar Foundation's (QF) performing arts festival called D'reesha, is a pop-up variation that gives a platform to the arts communities in Qatar to perform and engage with fellow artists.

Ameera Al Aji, QF Head of Community Arts Department and a member of the organising team of D'reesha festival, believes it is important to reach out to the community and welcome them to share their art in the hopes of promoting local arts and culture, and the Arabic language.

“The success of the D'reesha Stage was due to the diversity of the works presented, and the passion of the artists, which is an important factor in the continuity and success of the festival. D'reesha aspires to showcase more talents from our community. We seek to help creative people develop their talents and create an artistically educated society that is familiar with Arab culture first, and then the global culture,” said Al Aji.

Hosted by Nada Bahzad, the creatives got into a conversation about what sparked their passion and led them to finding their unique styles.

“Sometimes we find a figure or an artist that has reached a great level in their art, and their hard work and determination can inspire and motivate you,” said Al Muftah.

“It's important to get a lot of support and it starts from family. I remember my friends in Lebanon had great talents which were neglected by not practicing. My advice to parents is to nurture their children's talents, especially during their teenage years,” said Nakuzi.
