NATO provides security support to Qatar for 2022 FIFA WC


(MENAFN) On Thursday, NATO announced that it would supply security backing to Qatar throughout the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The organization stated in an announcement "The support will include training against threats posed by Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) materials, which will be delivered by Slovakia and NATO's Joint CBRN Defence Centre of Excellence in the Czech Republic.”

It also stated "A first training session dealing with Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear threats was conducted this past May in Slovakia."

The announcement also mentioned that Romania would deliver training for the defense of "very important people" -- VIPs -- and for contradicting threats posed by improvised explosive devices.
