China receives significant cargo of Iranian crude

(MENAFN) According to a report, a substantial shipment of Iranian petroleum has been sent to China, contradicting assertions by Iranian government officials claiming that exports to China have remained solid despite reports that increasing Russian crude supply to China has hindered Iranian shipments.

As per Reuters, China has received delivery of 260,000 tons (almost 2 million barrels) of Iranian petroleum in the last week at its southern port of Zhanjiang.

The article referenced data from shipment tracking company Vortexa Analytics as well as a US-based anti-Iran organization that analyzes incidents of US sanctions violations.

Despite a system of American sanctions that prohibits imports of Iranian oil for organizations and governments with interests in the US, Iran's crude supply to China began to rise to record levels of more than 1 million barrels per day (bpd) in the second half of 2021.
