Steffi Hamann

(MENAFN- The Conversation) Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Development Studies, University of Guelph Profile Articles Activity

Prior to moving to Canada from Germany, I collected diverse research experiences on development-related topics in Burkina Faso, at Jacobs University in Bremen, Germany and at the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies. I have worked directly with development practitioners at the German GIZ and at the Humanitarian Coalition in Ottawa. I completed a PhD with a focus on food security in rural Cameroon at the University of Guelph. My current research combines my academic background in Political Science with an interest in socio-economic development and global inequalities. It investigates the political economy of agricultural commodity investments and their impacts in rural sub-Saharan Africa, with a special focus on the palm oil sector.
