Dow recovers from 600-points decline to end with gains


(MENAFN) The Dow recovered from a 600-point decline on Friday to end in green zone.

The blue-chip increased 8.77 points, or 0.03 percent, to close at 31,261 points while the S&P 500 gained 0.57 points, or 0.01 percent, to end at 3,901.

However, the tech-heavy Nasdaq dropped 33 points, or 0.3 percent, to 11,354.

The VIX volatility index, identified as the fear index, increased 0.3 percent to 29.43.

The dollar index gained 0.3 percent to 103.01, whereas the 10-year US Treasury yield dropped 2.4 percent to 2.785 percent.

Precious metals were varied with the price of gold jumping 0.24 percent to USD1,846 but silver dropped 0.8 percent to USD21.75.

Crude costs were increased around 1 percent, whereas global oil benchmark Brent crude was exchanging at USD112.66 for a 0.55 percent day-to-day rise, whereas US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) stood at USD110.31 -- a 0.4 percent gain.
