J&K Police Chief Calls For Intensified Anti-Militancy Operations

Directs Officers To Strengthen Checkpoints, Night Patrolling In Sensitive Areas

Srinagar- The Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh on Friday called upon his officers to intensify anti-militancy operations, besides strengthening checkpoints and carrying out night patrolling of sensitive areas to keep the militants and their associates under check.

Singh passed these directions while reviewing security scenario of North Kashmir's Baramulla District in an officers meeting held at District Police Office, a police spokesperson said.

The DGP, he said, directed the officers to evolve more and more effective mechanism and augment the security grids in border and hinter land to ensure public safety.

The police chief, he said, maintained that the“cowardly attacks” on innocent civilians shows the“frustration of terror handlers” and stressed for stringent action against the elements inimical to peace and perpetrators of violence.

“He said that collective efforts are required to defeat saboteurs and enemies of peace. He stressed on the importance of maintaining close synergy between the forces to meet the security challenges,” he added.

According to the spokesperson, the DGP said that the militant outfits are attempting to create a sense of“fear and terror” among the general public and stressed upon the officers to remain extra vigilant and alert so that their evil attempts are foiled.

Singh, he said, also stressed upon the officers to ensure high alertness and preparedness to thwart the mischievous attempts of anti national elements.

“Our efforts should be resolute and specific giving no room to any complacency. Proactive measures have to be taken to ensure peace and order,” Singh said.

The DGP, as per the spokesperson emphasized upon the officers to strengthen night domination and Naka check points besides plugging the gaps with strict security measures so that no room is available to the enemies of peace.

Singh, he said, also stressed for night patrolling of sensitive areas to keep the militants and their associates under check.

Earlier, the spokesperson said that the DGP interacted with the policemen and officers who were part of operation in which five militants involved in recent Baramulla grenade attack were arrested.

Appreciating the team for cracking the militant module in quickest possible time, Singh, he said, directed for speedy completion of the case and framing of charges against the accused.

“The DGP directed for meticulous investigation for logical conclusion of the case. He stressed for using the modern and scientific tools to ensure exemplary punishment to all the perpetrators,” he said, adding that the DGP directed for sharing the weekly progress report with the PHQ.

According to the spokesperson, the police chief also directed the officers that the action against militants and their helpers must continue and all the suspicious elements be kept under check so as to foil their ill designs aimed at disrupting normal lives of the people.

“He stressed for more intensified anti-terrror operations,” he added.

The meeting was attended by DIG North Kashmir, Udaybhaskar Billa, SSP Baramulla, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, DySP Headquarters Baramulla Sajjad Bukhari, SDPO Pattan Mohammad Nawaz Khanday and other jurisdictional officers.
