Canada to send anti-tank weapons to Ukraine
'Responding to Ukraine's request and in agreement with NATO, we will provide additional lethal assistance to Ukraine by sending 100 Carl-Gustaf anti-tank weapons systems and 2,000 rockets,' Minister of National Defence of Canada Anita Anand said at a press conference in Ottawa, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
According to the minister, the weapons will be sent to Ukraine 'as soon as possible, in the coming days.'
The non-lethal aid to Ukraine announced by Canada yesterday is already on its way to Europe, while the second batch is expected in a week, Anand added.
On Sunday, Canada announced that it would send non-lethal military equipment worth more than CAD 25 million to Ukraine. The aid package includes body armour, helmets, gas masks, and night vision goggles.
