UN chief condemns deadly airstrikes in Yemen

(MENAFN) Antonio Guterres UN’s Secretary-General strongly denounced airstrikes on the Saada city in Yemen, which is in the grip of the Houthis, due to the fact it resulted in the murder of prisoners at a detention facility.

The attacks took place from the growing aggressions from coalition monitored by Saudi Arabia to restrain the rebels in the war-infected nation.

Representative Stephane Dujarric mentioned in an update, “The Secretary-General reminds all parties that attacks directed against civilians and civilian infrastructure are prohibited by international humanitarian law.”

Dujarric noted, “He further reminds all parties of their obligations under international humanitarian law to ensure that civilians are protected against the dangers arising from military operations, adhering to the principles of proportionality, distinction and precaution.”
