Ukraine: Russia not in charge for huge cyberattack

(MENAFN) As stated by a senior Kiev security official, huge cyberattack aimed at Ukrainian administration companies had been started by a group in a relation with Belarusian intelligence services.

The deputy secretary of Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, Sergey Demedyuk, informed Reuters "Our preliminary belief is that the group UNC1151 may be involved in this attack."

Demedyuk added that the “cyber-espionage group” in question is understood to be “affiliated with the special services of the Republic of Belarus.”

He went on to say that the cyberattack on the administration’s websites “was just a cover for more destructive actions” that happened “behind the scenes,” and did not give any extra information, and just recommended that the “consequences” of the attack are going to be seen “in the near future.”
