Qatar - Al-Tala'a championship semi-finals at Marmi Festival Wednesday

The 13th edition of the Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2022) will witness Wednesday, the semi-finals of Al-Tala'a championship in the morning featuring 24 falcons in five groups and the qualifiers for the ninth group of the Hadad Challenge championship in the afternoon.



The festival, being held under the patronage of HE sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani in Sabkhat Marmi in Sealine, and organised by Qatari Al-Qannas Association, is continuing until January 29. Tuesday was day 11.
Tuesday forenoon, the fifth and postponed group qualifiers for the Hadad Challenge saw the qualification of four falconers: Hamad Salem al-Marri, Turki Muqrin al-Dossary, Mubarak Abdullah al-Maadidi and Abdullah Muhammad al-Attiyah.



Tuesday afternoon, the local Da'wa Championship was held for the Qirnas Shaheen category and the Free Gear category (Farkh and Qirnas), where ten contestants qualified in each category. In the Qirnas Shaheen category, Abdullah Saeed al-Marri got first and seventh places, the Aba Zalouf team came in second, Lusail team ranked third and fifth, Abdullah Amer al-Kaabi came fourth, Nasser Muhammad al-Nuaimi sixth, Elite team eighth, and Al Mourabitoun team ninth.



In the free gear category (Farkh and Qarnas), Mohammed Rashid al-Nuaimi came first, Abdullah Saeed al-Marri was second and fourth, Hassan Abdullah al-Kubaisi third, Hamad Abdul Hadi bin Nayfeh fifth, Khalifa Nasser al-Misnad sixth and eighth, and the Lusail team won seventh, ninth and tenth places.
Falconer Mohammed Rashid al-Nuaimi, who qualified in the Free Gear category (Farkh and Qarnass), took first place and won the best time, as the falcon 'Domah' completed the race distance of 400m in 16.226 seconds.
His falcon, which is of the Qarmousha type, has great achievements, to its credit, he recalled. The falcon won a car in the previous Marmi Festival, and came first in the Dubai Championship and third in Abu Dhabi. 'This year I started participating in the National Day Championship and won the fourth place,' he added.
Abdullah Saeed al-Marri, who qualified first in the Qirnas Shaheen category, said he won the elite race in the National Day Championship, and the elite in the Ras Laffan Falcon Championship.
Veteran falconer Abdul Wahab Omair al-Nuaimi, a member of the Lusail team, said the team participates the most in the festival in the Da'wah Championship.
'Today, our team got five places in both categories, and we have qualified falcons with a history in the tournament, and we have falcons participating in the upcoming categories,' he said.
Ali Muhammad al-Nabit, a member of the Elite team, added the team is participating in the Marmi Festival with about 90 falcons, and all members are professional falconers, who win prizes every year.
