KABUL (Pajhwok): A fake facebook page associated to Kabul News TV has claimed that the acting government has talked to former President Ashraf Ghani who pledged to retun to the country this month.

Kabul News TV said the post was published on a fake facebook page and the government also rejected the claim.

Claim:

A fake facebook page associated to Kabul News TV posted:“Zabihullah Mujahid talked with President Ashraf Ghani on the telephone and Ghani pledged to come back to Afghanistan this month. Mujahid said preparations for a special ceremony to welcome President Ghani will be made in coming four days and Ghani would be offered an important ministry.”

This page has over 48 followers and this post until Thursday noon was shared 33 times and 63 social media users posted their comments.

Fact Check

Kabul News TV reporters said the facebook page associated to them is fake and published wrong reports in the recent times.

Acting Government Deputy Spokesperson Ahmadullah Waseeq told Pajhwok Afghan News the comments made in the facebook page associated to Kabul News were not correct.

Outcome: A facebook page associated to Kabul News TV claimed that President Ghani will return to Afghanistan this month but credible sources spurned the claim and termed the facebook page as fake.

Verdict: Claim regarding the return of former President Ghani back to Afghanistan is incorrect.
