Ukraine - Health chief vows no additional quarantine bans on New Year's holiday

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The authorities in Ukraine have no intention to strengthen coronavirus-related restrictions on New Year's eve.

That's according to Minister of health Viktor Liashko who spoke with channel 24 , Ukrinform reports.

'Ukraine is already in adaptive quarantine, so no additional restrictions are scheduled for New Year's holidays. Last year there was a new wave during this period. However, we introduced quarantine restrictions after the holidays, which allowed us to delay the wave. I call on everyone to stay safe while celebrating New Year's holidays – in isolation with relatives, as well as with a full vaccination course. This will allow us to look toward the new wave optimistically,' the minister said.

It should be recalled that starting Tuesday, Kyiv, as well as eight regions (Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kherson, Luhansk, Lviv, Odesa, and Rivne) were assigned to the yellow quarantine zone. The relevant easing of COVID-19-related restrictions is possible due to certain stabilization in incidence statistics, hospital load, and hospitalization dynamics in the said areas.

Currently, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Khmelnytsky, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Zaporizhia, and Zhytomyr regions remain in the red zone.

Poltava and Zakarpattia regions are in the orange zone.
