(MENAFN) Central Turkey authorities have finished the ceremonies arrangements that commemorate Mevlana Jalaluddin al-Rumi 748th death anniversary, also referred to in the West as Rumi, a mystic, poet, as well as philosopher in the 13th century whose impact continues until the present day.
Supported by the Culture and Tourism Ministry, 10 days of tribute rituals are going to be arranged in the city of Konya, where the tomb of Rumi is located, with tens of regional and international visitors taking part in the ceremony.
The death of Mevlana on Dec. 17, 1273, is identified as Seb-i Arus, or the wedding night, a symbol to Rumi's reunion with the divine.
A wide range of events are going to be organized during the ceremonial rituals, that involve seminars, exhibitions, and workshops, along with the well-known ritual of the whirling dervishes.
