PSG - Ooredoo Qatar Cup reaches knockout stage


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Paris Saint-Germain and Ooredoo partnered to launch their first 5 side football tournament at Temba Arena, The Pearl Island recently.

Teams of all nationalities have joined together to compete in a double round robin, over 13 days for the winning grand prize of QR20,000 and 2nd place prize of QR5,000. 

Each team is named after a current or former PSG legendary player, represents Paris Saint Germain's eminent history. Some of the participating teams are, Ronaldinho, Neymar, Mbappe, Messi, Weah and Rai.

Paris Saint-Germain Ooredoo Qatar Cup has concluded the group stages and began the knock-out rounds yesterday.

The top teams were determined by point accumulation in group play. 

Each team was guaranteed 4 matches and the group winners and runners up qualified for the Gold Phase, while 3rd place teams qualified for the Silver Phase.

Matches are played every evening from 6:00 pm –9:00 pm, lasting 50 minutes each. 

The event is open to the public free of charge.

The final is scheduled to be held tomorrow, starting at 6:00 pm.
