Grass TB, Producers of Grass-based Paper Products, Launches Investment Crowdfunding Campaign
La Salle, CO – Nov 3, 2021 – GrassTB, creators of a proprietary process for producing grass pulp for use in creating tree-free paper products, has launched an investment crowdfunding campaign on the Wefunder platform . Since launch, the company has raised more than $65,000 of its $100,000 goal. Crowdfunding regulations enable investors at any level to back this company, with minimum investments starting at just $100.
It's no surprise that consumption of plastic and paper products are harming our environment, and recyclable alternatives are not new or uncommon today. Climate change, deforestation, and the plastic waste crisis have been at the forefront of discussions around the world – and many responsible individuals have tried to reverse our environment crisis by changing ingredients in products to meet consumers' demand. The one product that has been consistently reengineered is paper. Instead of cutting down trees for pulps, other people have substituted trees with other natural items like hemp, bamboo, and sugarcanes. However, those alternatives require costly processes and the resources themselves take a long time to grow. GrassTB has found a revolutionary, cost effective, and renewable solution: they've pioneered a proprietary process for turning common grass clippings into paper products.
“We're proud to say that we're the first to create a process for creating the pulp to make paper from grass,” said Bao Ho, CEO and CFO of GrassTB.“We have always been passionate about finding solutions that help the environment, so it's so exciting to know what an impact we'll be making with this revolutionary process.” GrassTB's products are made from 100% grass pulp, so no trees will need to be cut down to produce them. The proprietary process of producing grass pulp goes beyond just saving trees, as it also requires significantly less water, CO2, electricity, and oil. This is because growing grass does not require a significant amount of electrical energy or use of chemicals that result in extreme pollution wastes. Also, because grass is an abundant material that is readily available in nearly all communities (we've all seen the green waste bins around our neighborhoods), collecting and transporting the raw materials for producing grass pulp is a short and resource-light process.
Finding an alternative to cutting down trees as means of producing paper products is crucial to ending the devastating effects of deforestation. Though other alternatives exist – like hemp, bamboo, and sugar cane – they are costly, require large plots of land to grow the raw materials, and have slow growth cycles. Conversely, grass is abundant and readily available through communities, and is characterized by rapid growth (typically 2-3 inches a week). Along with gathering clippings from residences and businesses – especially those that focus on landscaping and maintenance – there is ample opportunity to grow what is needed to scale the business.
“Because our proprietary grass fiber is flexible, it can be made into a wide range of paper products,” said Ho.“Though we're only producing napkins and paper bags now, our proprietary grass pulp can be used to produce myriad paper and plastic products, like coffee cup sleeves, greeting cards, single-use utensils, wrapping paper, golf tees and even cardboard. The opportunities are endless now that we've created this process.”
Along with a commitment to sustainability and environmentality, a hallmark of GrassTB is their focus on bringing jobs to the United States and strengthening the economy.
“Accessibility to grass reduces, and may eliminate, the need to import raw materials nationally and internationally,” said Ho.“Best yet, we can create job opportunities within the United States, an area where the U.S. economy is experiencing growing losses.”
