Army foils smuggling attempt from Syria


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Oct. 14 (Petra) -- The Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with other security agencies, thwarted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of narcotics from Syria, an official military source in the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army announced on Thursday.
The army personnel applied the rules of engagement, injuring one of the smugglers, while the others escaped, the source said, adding that a search conducted led to the discovery of large quantities of narcotics.
The source underlined that the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army will use full force against any infiltration or smuggling attempt to protect the borders and prevent anyone tempted to from tampering with the Jordanian national security.
