The Integrated Transport Centre Operates New Buses and Offers 244 Additional Daily Trips During Peak Hours
(MENAFN- ITC Media) Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 – The Integrated Transport Centre of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi, announced that it will enhance the public buses network by operating new buses and adding 244 daily trips during peak hours in order to ensure meeting the public demand.
ITC has started operating seven main services in Abu Dhabi City that link between areas with high public demand. The new services are: 102, 41, 67, 101, 110, 160 and 170. The new buses would double the capacity of the services by offering 244 additional daily trips during peak hours. This will also improve the frequency of the services to be between 5 to 15 minutes during peak hours in which will result in reducing crowding.
ITC stated that the new buses and the additional trips will reduce the wait time required for passengers in bus stops in Sultan bin Zayed Street, Zayed the First street, Hamdan Street, Mushrif Mall, Wahda Mall, Dalma Mall, Mazyad Mall, Khalifa City Souq, Al Reem Island, Al Zeina and Musaffah.
The new Mercedes Benz and Volvo buses are equipped with "Euro 6" engines and conform to the European specifications for low carbon emissions, based on ITC’s keenness to protect the environment, rationalise energy consumption, and contribute to enhancing the quality of life in the Emirate.
The operation of the new buses comes in response to the significant decrease of coronavirus cases within the increase of passengers’ demand to pre-pandemic levels.
In addition, ITC stressed that the precautionary measures followed during the pandemic enhanced the public’s trust in using public transport and improved the recovery of the public transport sector in a way that helped in returning the operational capacity to its regular levels.
It is worth to mention that the new buses support ITC’s efforts to enhance the public buses network, expand bus capacity and offer a comprehensive geographic coverage between different areas. This also aims to improve the quality of services offered to the public by reducing the wait time, improve the public experience to achieve an integrated and sustainable transport network.
ITC ensured that it will continue to follow the preventive measures to control the spread of coronavirus. Passengers are required to wear face masks and leave a physical distance to ensure the safety of all.
