Safadi, Swedish counterpart hold talks over UNRWA


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) New York, Sept. 23 (Petra)-- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, yesterday, along with his Swedish counterpart Ann Linde held in New York a preparatory ministerial meeting for the international conference on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
During the meeting, Safadi stressed the need to mobilize support for UNRWA to help the organization continue providing vital services to some 5.7 million Palestinian refugees.
Safadi praised Sweden's role in mobilizing support for the organization within the framework of its partnership with Jordan.
He thanked all the partners in this regard, stressing the importance of agreeing on long-term financing mechanisms which ensure the continuity of UNRWA's vital services across its five fields of operation.
