(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: A soldier was martyred in a cross-border attack by terrorists from Afghanistan on a military check post in Lower Dir on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists from inside Afghanistan across the international border opened fire on a military post in Lower Dir. One soldier identified as Havaldar Gul Ameer, 36, resident of Lakki Marwat, got critically injured and later embraced martyrdom while under treatment at a hospital.
The ISPR said the security forces responded in a befitting manner, killing one terrorist. It said intelligence intercepts showed that one terrorist was killed and two to three were injured.
On July 28, a soldier of the Pakistan Army was martyred in a cross border attack by terrorists from Afghanistan in Bajaur tribal district.
According to ISPR, Lance Naik Samiullah was martyred in cross border attack. The martyred soldier belonged to Jablok area of Upper Dir district.
On July 14, a girl was injured when a mortar shell fired from Afghan side landed at a house in Bajaur. Local sources said the mortar fired from Kunar province of Afghanistan landed at the house of a local person, Latifullah, in Kaga village in Mamond tehsil due to which a 22-year-old girl was injured.
On June 30, five soldiers were martyred and five others were injured in two cross border attacks in North and South Waziristan tribal districts.
Terrorists based in Afghanistan attacked a check post of Frontier Corps (FC) in Khaisura, Faqir Killi, in South Waziristan, in which three soldiers were martyred and three others were injured. The terrorists attacked the check post with small and heavy arms due to which Naik Ali Zar Betani, Lance Naik Asim and Sepoy Babar Mohmand were martyred, while Sepoys Hazrat Hussain and Sardar Shah Kundi and Imran were injured.
In North Waziristan, two Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred after terrorists attacked a security forces check post near Dwatoi area. The Army troops retaliated to the cross-border firing from Afghanistan. During the exchange of fire, two soldiers identified as Havaldar Saleem, 43, and Lance Naik Pervaiz, 35, were martyred, while two soldiers identified as Havaldar Ghaus and Sepoy Rehman were injured.
The ISPR said Pakistan has consistently been asking Afghanistan to ensure effective border control on their side.
